Air booms are typically deployed from response vessels where a foam filled boom would be too bulky, when the air boom is deflated it can be transported much easier due it's much smaller size.
These booms are ideal for open water due to their high buoyancy to weight ratio (30:1) is beneficial when against instances of waves, these booms have excellent UV protection and chemical resistance to chemicals like acids, alkalis, solvents and hydrocarbons.
